POSTER DRESSES RAISE FUNDS AND FUN AT CIPB JURY EXHIBITION

2008 Dresses

While 110 posters of the Chicago Biennial jury hung on the walls of Mies van der Rohe’s Crown Hall at IIT, 12 posters were moving elegantly through the exhibition space. The opening of the CIPB Jury Exhibition on June 7th featured a surprise to both the attendees and the 11 international jurors: poster dresses, created by Miki Shim-Rutter. The dresses were inspired by the designs of one of each of the 11 jurors’ works, as well as from the official Biennial poster art. It was difficult to tell if the girls or the dresses were the biggest hit of the evening, but they certainly caught the attention of the 350 people in attendance. All 12 dresses were sold at auction to help cover the costs of this 1st Biennial.
